#SetLife: 4 Observations of a Newbie Video Vixen | Model Diaries
Hey friends!
WELL. A couple of weeks ago now I had a more exciting week than usual - I was cast in my first music video and a few days later a short fashion film for Fashion TV. Both seemed to come out of nowhere but I am so grateful and look forward to more.
The film/entertainment/fashion industry is a funny little pool of interesting people and this was the whole premise of me starting my blog about 6 years ago, so I'm going to share a few tidbits of what goes down on set.
1. Set catering (if there is any) will likely consist of pizza and/or burgers. Right after you might need to cavort in a bikini or get zipped into a corset-like dress that honestly fit fine like 10 minutes ago. Best to pack your own snacks and even water just in case.
2. Waiting around for your time to shoot is a real thing and it is inevitable. Good time to grab the make-up, clothes and props around and shoot some fun little personal photos in between takes though!
3. Maybe it differs in slightly bigger scenes (I doubt it though), but so many people on set will know each other and know the same people that you’ll be privy to gossip about so many people in the industry. It’s fascinating and hilarious.
4. There will be that diva or divo on set who’s the bitchy stereotype and has decided they either don’t like you or are not interested in speaking to/acknowledging you. Often they’re not at all the star or even involved in the shoot itself and may be a hanger-on so just do your job and keep in touch with the cool people.
At the end of the day, no matter how tiring some of it was, there were good times all around. I don't plan on slowing down any time soon, so watch this space!
